Dr. Namgu Kim’s journey into orthodontics began with curiosity, mentorship, and an artistic spirit. Born in Seoul and raised in Portland, Dr. Kim spent summers shadowing his godfather—an orthodontist—during high school. Inspired by the way a smile could change someone’s life, he pursued a career where science and aesthetics meet.
Dr. Kim earned his undergraduate degree from Georgetown University and completed dental school at Oregon Health & Science University, where he received his DMD. He then went on to complete his orthodontic residency at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, earning both a Certificate in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics and a Master of Science in Oral Biology. From the beginning, he knew he wanted to build something different—an orthodontic practice that blends precision with artistry to create results that feel natural, personal, and empowering.
With a patient-first approach and a heart for community, Dr. Kim founded One Smile Orthodontics to make orthodontic care more personal, more uplifting, and more design-minded.
